Two of my favourite crystals for comfort and wellbeing during cancer
As an integrative cancer care specialist, I believe care can hold space for both evidence-based medical treatment and gentle practices that support emotional wellbeing. Crystals are one of my favourite tools for this. They are never a replacement for medical advice or treatment, and they can offer a calming, non-invasive ritual, inviting moments of comfort, reflection and connection with yourself throughout the cancer experience.
Crystal healing can feel a little overwhelming at first. It asks us to be open to something we cannot always see or measure, and with more than 300 crystals associated with different qualities, knowing where to begin can be confusing. To make your first steps feel simpler and more meaningful, I’m sharing two crystals that are often chosen for their grounding, soothing and supportive presence, with gentle ways to incorporate them into your own self-care practice.
My two favourite crystals for cancer wellness
Of all the crystals I love, choosing just two is no easy task. Yet, in my experience of supporting people through cancer, Smokey Quartz and Labradorite are two stones I return to again and again for their grounding, comforting presence. Both are abundant and widely available in crystal shops. Their deeper, earthier colours may seem understated beside more sparkling stones, and there is something quietly reassuring in their appearance and the rituals they can inspire.
The benefits of Smokey Quartz in cancer care
Smokey Quartz is often chosen in crystal healing for its grounding, protective and empowering symbolism. During cancer treatment, it is understandable to feel overwhelmed by changes to work, independence, your body and the need to accept support from others, so holding or using a Smokey Quartz in a personal ritual can offer a calming reminder to pause, breathe and reconnect with your inner strength. Often called the “Stone of Power”, it is associated with releasing stress and anxious thoughts, although it should be used as a source of comfort alongside, never instead of, medical care and support.
The benefits of Labradorite in cancer care
Labradorite has long been valued in spiritual traditions for its protective, light-reflecting beauty and its association with inner strength during times of change. For anyone navigating cancer, it can be a meaningful stone to hold or wear as part of a calming ritual, offering a gentle prompt to acknowledge fear, release what feels heavy and reconnect with a sense of steadiness and hope. While it cannot treat anxiety, support immunity or replace medical care, many people find its presence comforting as they move through an emotional and life-changing chapter.
How to use healing crystals to support cancer wellbeing
I also love crystals because they are simple, accessible tools for creating moments of comfort and intention. You might choose a pendant or bracelet to wear as a personal reminder to pause and breathe, place a stone somewhere meaningful at home, or include one in a soothing bath ritual, always following any safety guidance for the crystal you choose. If you would prefer guided support before choosing your own, I offer specialist crystal healing sessions in person at my clinic in Wilmslow, as well as virtually online, as a gentle wellbeing practice alongside your medical care.
What is crystal healing?
Crystal healing is a deeply relaxing wellbeing practice, often experienced in a similar way to Reiki. In a session, crystals are selected with your emotional comfort and intention in mind, then placed around the body or chakra points to support a quiet space for rest, reflection and relaxation. While crystal healing does not treat cancer, symptoms or treatment side effects, it can be a gentle complementary practice alongside medical care.
